Mervyn's ChildSpree
The Salvation Army Partners with Mervyns:
Going back-to-school is so exciting! Books, crayons, a new pair of shoes, backpacks, and all the rest...
That's why The Salvation Army, along with Mervyn's, has an annual BACK-T0-SCHOOL CHILDSPREE. Every August, needy children from the Petaluma area will be selected and will gather at a local Mervyn's to participate.
These children are given the opportunity to have a morning of shopping, parent-free, while being chaperoned by adult volunteers.
The children will also receive a backpack filled with school supplies. They are truly the guests of honor!
The Salvation Army and Mervyn's desire is to make an impact and a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged but deserving children in our community.

ChildSpree is Mervyn’s annual back-to-school shopping spree for economically disadvantaged children. Each year thousands of kids shop for brand new clothes thanks to Mervyn’s partnership with local nonprofit organizations, like The Salvation Army. To date, over 150,000 kids have participated in ChildSpree.
This year Mervyn's and The Salvation Army Petaluma Corps partnered to help 50 children with new clothing, shoes, backpacks and school supplies. These children were chaperoned by volunteers from The Salvation Army and community volunteers.
